This show handles issues of gender and sexual orientation with sympathy and takes an activist angle on the issues. A 13 year old girl is found kissing a 15 year old boy: the term statutory rape is thrown around to dissuade the boy from coming back to see the girl again, even though the event did not meet the conditions of that term. S1E7: two female lawyers receive death and rape threats, specifically a threat to be gang raped as a result of a doxxing aimed at their company. S2E3: a cult is investigated and sexual abuse and non-consensual filming is uncovered. A case goes before the bench about a doctor who inseminated clients with his own sperm: he is unrepentant. S2E4: a mail order bride is being controlled/abused by her husband. Some things come to light during the divorce process such as her not having a key to her own house to be able to leave, husband expecting "marital duties" in exchange for being taken out for dinner and treated nicely. Worthy of note: A man comes to the FMC's home while her daughter is home,: e does not break in but his presence is threatening. "Die Faggot" is pray painted over an artists work. A gay man is forced to lie about his marriage to a woman in order to protect a biggot. A drunk teenage girl is shown coming home from a party and her mother fears what has happened, but this situation is very quickly resolved. S1E6: a man is clearly gaslighting his female partner. A man tells his estranged wife/female MC that their daughter's sexual experience "won't be like hers" possibly alluding to a sexual assault in the mother's past. S2E5: a sex worker is demonized for her profession on the stand in court.
