Description

A female point of view character engages in survival sex work. Her internal monologue shows her feeling fearful of getting too close to certain men because they perceive her presence near them as consent to being touched. The protagonist is an Indigenous WWII veteran, as are his friends. They brag to one another about their wartime sexual conquests, particularly having sex with white women. They tell their stories in clearly exaggerated ways, and it's nebulous whether any or all of these encounters were actually consensual.
