The book is about an adult man who grooms college students to create a cult. His perspective is incredibly misogynist, and he increasingly exercises control over women's lives, starting with the protagonist and her suitemates. He tries to convince several women that their fathers or other family members molested them as children, and then influences them to have sex with him as a form of "healing." Overall, this antagonist uses gaslighting, surveillance, and intimidation throughout the book.
