The movie quickly takes a turn to heavily sexual and coerced themes. It is shown as a snapshot of what being in this area and affiliated is like, how women are treated. So it is not glorified but it is intense. There is a back story given by our main protagonist a few times that heavily implies her father used to both physically and sexually abuse her younger sister. It is never shown or even explicitly stated but it is implied. The main character wants to infiltrate a gang, she is told a vulgar statement about having only the option of becoming a sex worker under a much older man. She is told that it is either this or death since she knows too much to be let go. He proceeds to lift her shirt without warning to briefly examine her body type. Heavy coercion themes with this character. She then is referred to as “bait” and sent on a mission to objectify herself, seduce a man she wouldn’t want to be with outside of this, and “distract” him with her body. This scene plays out with her repeatedly trying to steer the man in a direction she is comfortable with and is trying to agree on where they will be when Inter course takes place. The man keeps rejecting any of her suggestions, he talks her down on her price, treats her like an object and even with the consent to seduce him, we see many instances of her trying to compromise or state what she wants and it being shot down. The man also uses his strength over her to shove her around and pin her to walls. This does lead to a scene in a hotel room where the man sneaks up on her, throws her to the bed, tells her not to move and threatens her, then starts to cut off her clothes and we see an attempted r*pe here but it is stopped at this moment before he can continue. The main character is pulled by her arms or shoved around, grabbed, carried, etc several times without any explicit consent or even warning. Worthy of note: she did agree to this arrangement however the main theme of the film is that she is doing many things she does not want to, to survive and find her sister. She is hesitant, anxious and we even see a scene of her crying out while scrubbing herself clean in the shower, showing the distress and unwanted feelings and a common sign of sexual assault).
