Longtime sexual exploitation of a young gay male lead by law enforcement in a time when sodomy was illegal is featured. He was picked up for prostitution and "saved" from prison by being offered a job as an entrapper. This occured offscreen in backstory, but he is very much processing his experiences onscreen including his complicated relationship with the investigator who sheltered and mentored him while exploiting him.
