Description

The protagonist realizes she wants to have children and, by her own admission, forces herself on her husband when he's not interested in having sex. The protagonist acquires technology that allows her access to the mind and memories of her close friend for the purpose of healing that friend's trauma. Though the friend gives consent to make this mental link, the protagonist can initiate the connection without her friend being aware and begins using this feature more and more frequently. The protagonist learns that her friend was sexually abused by a clergyman in childhood. She then confronts this clergyman and creates a public discussion series interviewing him. When the friend finds out, she is hurt that the protagonist did not include her in the process or get consent to make this trauma public. The protagonist finds out that her husband is a clone of his own father. Her husband does not know about being a clone. Because she is disgusted by her father-in-law, the protagonist begins feeling repulsed by having sex with her husband. One day, she decides to have sex with him while linked with her friend's mind. He confronts her about this, saying it is not consensual either to him or to her friend. The protagonist then reveals to her husband that he's a clone, which causes him significant mental anguish and doubts about his personhood.
