Description
The book takes place in a world where people accused of crimes are assigned a second shadow. Having a second shadow makes such people very vulnerable to attacks from others, who think they must have done something horrible to get a second shadow. There are news stories throughout the book of people with two shadows being targeted for physical and sexual violence.
