Description
This book takes place between 1925 and 1980 in the United States and focuses on different members of a black family. In one chapter, two members of the family are traveling by car through the Southern United States. While they are eating a picnic lunch in a park, three white men harass them to leave, threatening the husband. They wolf whistle at the woman and joke that she should stay with them.
Another member of the family is molested as a child by a community member.
