Description

In the base-game it is established that a major character is cursed with eternal youth. Although they are not "literally" a child, this quality reframes the priorly mentioned abduction as potentially child sexual abuse. Miquella and Mohg's subplot: a character kidnaps and develops an obsession over another; seeking to become their "consort". The victim in question has the body of a child and is the half-brother of the kidnapper, it is unclear whether or not the dynamic is sexually abusive, but predatory, obsessive and possessive language is used, the victim is entirely unresponsive. A character in an optional area (Carian Manor) is condescending and off-putting, but if the player advances in his quest, it is reveals he gives individuals potions which turns them into "dolls" which can be manipulated and summoned for combat. The character does not appear to use them this way, as they reside, catatonic, in his hidden basement, including one next to a bed (with a warning: "[character's] room: Do not touch"). Another character refers to him as a "doll botherer." This comment, along with the bed, heavily implies that he sexually abuses these catatonic people. The player can successfully assist him in drugging another character, and the final step in his quest involves attempting to poison/drug a major character behind one of the potential endings. The player cannot succeed in this, and is killed in the attempt, along with their co-conspirator. Although the player can assist him with his plan, the quest is not played for comedy; virtually every NPC who knows the character despises him. Regardless, the implication of sexual violence, and the fact that the player can aid the character, can be disturbing. While not handled particularly sensitively or insensitively, the fact that the player is punished for their deeds at the end of the quest, along with the character who instigated it, can appear to be justice. In the DLC, a major character is revealed to have formed a marriage with his half-brother.
