The climax of the movie reveals that the character they've been searching for has been held captive in a forced marriage and repeatedly raped in an attempt to force her to bear a child. The assaults are not shown, but we see photos of her terrified and with blood on her clothes from the births. The film revolves around an incubus, a type of demon which in mythology latches on to women and assaults them in their sleep. This demon began stalking the aforementioned character as a child (though the movie does not imply that it did anything more to her until she was an adult). The demon was possessing the man who kidnapped and assaulted her.
