Description

The main character has a breakdown while dealing with the psychological ramifications of past incestuous sexual abuse. No graphic scenes are shown. Another main character reveals that her first kiss was with her father's boss when she was only eleven years old. It is implied the abuse went further than that event. The main character mentions that his friend was often made to get drunk with the upperclassmen when she was a year or two younger. The movie normalizes romantic relationships between a high school freshman (14) and seniors (17 to 18) who were emphasized many times were going to college soon, instead of mirroring the abuse the main character had with his aunt and exploring it in a meaningful way. At the end of the film, this is treated as normal and healthy. Two of his older friends (one who was implied to also be a child sex abuse survivor and the other a gay male) kiss the main character, and one character has a relationship with him despite the age gap. None of the adults in the film nor the older teens see an issue with it. The older teens also pressured the main character into dancing on stage in revealing clothes with a group.
