In the second scene, where the main character goes to town to pay taxes: girls are "checked" whether they are women/adults to determine if they also owe taxes. This is done by military armed men pushing their hands inside the girl's vaginas in public view of the whole town. It happens at least twice on-screen and is implied to happen to other girls in the crowd. Near the middle of the movie, after the main character decides to leave London after a riot: a female character describes how a man raped her and was forced to carry the child, who was then taken away from her.
